MPC is proud to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month and National Hispanic Serving Institution Week. At MPC, more than 40% of our students and 20% of our Faculty and Staff identify as Hispanic or Latina/o/x. This guide is designed to provide those interested in learning about the experiences of Hispanic and Latina/o/x groups. Most importantly, it is meant to empower and provide affirmation to our Hispanic communities. This guide is one of the many ways we are committed to ensuring that MPC is responsive to the needs of our students.
This guide was created through collaborative efforts of the Hispanic Serving Institution Office, Library, Sociology Department, and Spanish Department. Thank you to all of those that contributed.
In addition, we would like to invite all of you to visit our Hispanic Heritage Month Exhibition located in LTC 3rd floor. You will find amazing books to check out, student art, small collections of Latin American board games, cooking utensils, and more. Special thanks to Diana Baltazar, Juanita Vasquez, Elisabeth Thomas, and Diego Espinoza for their artistic vision. HSI staff will be available on the exhibition site to answer any questions you might have about the exhibition or any of the books and displays on Tues., Sept. 21, 1-2 pm.
